Race Course - NEW COURSE CONFIGURATIONS FOR 2021!

5.5 Mile Course

The short course is approximately 5.5 miles and will include all three loops of the Avalanche Trail in a counter clockwise direction. Runners will enter the Avalanche Trail via a connector trail behind the bathrooms and finish near the pavilion. No aid station for the 5.5 mile course so make sure you bring water if you feel you'll need it for the short course.

Always run opposite the bike traffic, so pre-run days for the short course in race direction are Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

9 Mile Course

The long course is a bit over 9 miles and will include all three loops of the Avalanche Trail in a counter clockwise direction. Long course runners will enter the Avalanche Trail via a connector trail behind the bathrooms, complete all three loops, then return to the pavilion area where they will pass through the finish arch and then head to the Mill Trails to complete Moore's Pass, Raceway and Powerhouse Trails in a clockwise direction. These are commonly referred to as "The Mill" trails. Long course runners will not be using the Turbine Trail, instead you will head straight back on Upper Moore's Pass and head back to the finish line.

There is one aid station on the long course, and it is at Mile 5.5 as runners cross back through Rope Mill Park. The aid station will have water, Hammer HEED, and Hammer Gels. For your safety, we recommend ALL runners be self sufficient and carry their own fluids and nutrition.

9 Mile Garmin Connect File

NOTE THAT ON THE ABOVE GARMIN FILE, THE DIRECTION ON RACEWAY AND POWERHOUSE IS THE REVERSE OF WHAT YOU WILL BE RUNNING ON RACE DAY DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO RIDE COUNTER-CLOCKWISE AND CLOCKWISE ON THE SAME DAY, BUT IT GIVES YOU A SENSE OF THE LAYOUT AND ELEVATION. YOU WILL BE RUNNING RACEWAY AND POWERHOUSE CLOCKWISE ON RACE DAY.

Please note GPS distance always comes up short at Rope Mill Park due to all the switchbacks.

Because these trails are all directional bike trails, you will not be able to "legally" run the entire long course in the race direction on the same day. Please run opposite the daily bike direction and always check sorbawoodstock.org for trail open/closed status before heading out.
